Discipleship

My friend Syndal put this quote on facebook today, and I liked it so much that I need to share it:

“Disciples are not manufactured wholesale. They are produced one by one, because someone has taken the pains to discipline, to instruct and enlighten, to nurture and train one that is younger.”

the pains to discipline. to instruct. to enlighten. to nurture. to train.

the pains.

Disciplship isn’t easy. It isn’t a quick process. It can’t be contained in a single theory, process, structure.

Discipleship is fluid. simple. complicated. lifelong. for a time. one on one. in a group.

Discipleship is a lifestyle and if we have learned anything here on this earth, anything worthwhile and worth living for isn’t easy.

Who are you pouring into? Who are you taking the pains to discipline, to instruct, to enlighten and nurture and train?

I asked myself this question today. Praying about where God leads me.

love, sam.
